Ghatasthapana — also called Kalasha Sthapana — inaugurates Navaratri in many homes. A pot is installed as the Goddess’s seat; grains are sown to sprout through the nine nights as living signs of Shakti.
How it is done
An auspicious muhurta is chosen (often Day 1). The kalasha receives water, coin, mango leaves, coconut, and thread. Barley or wheat is sown in clay beside it. Daily watering and aarti continue until Vijayadashami.
