Significance of Ashada month
Ashada month is regarded as the third month of the year. One of the main significance in Ashada month is the starting of rain. Because in India, this month is the season of Monsoon.
Ashada month is recognised as a null month due to some negative belief. The belief is that Ashada month is inauspicious for doing good functions such as house warming, sacred thread ceremony, marriage etc.. The reason behind the belief of considering Ashada month is unclear, but some of them says that probably it's because of the rainy season.
Ashada month is the beginning of Dakshinayana and during this time devotees should worship Saptamatruka Shakti Goddesses, Lord Bhairava, Lord Narasimha, Mahishasura Some more beliefs are emphasising in Ashada month. During this month, girls are wearing mehndi on their hands and feet. The reason behind this belief is that due to seasonal changes there will be some chances of skin diseases. At that time, mehndi will help to avoid these skin problems.
According to Hindu custom, Conceiving a child in this month is not good, because, during the time of delivery on Chaitra month, she may go through more problems Chaitra month is considered as hottest period and it may affect the mother and newborn baby too. But a fact behind the belief is that these believes are man-made. So, man makes changes depends on the circumstances. Chaturmas Vrat begins in Ashada month.
Another belief is that mother in law and daughter in law want to stay apart is good in this month. So daughter in law will go to her mother's house for that particular period. There is nothing to afraid behind this belief because this is not decided through the guidance of astrology. After all, devotees are conducting pujas and vratas with full of gratitude and devotion to God.
