Margashirsha month

As pointed out in the Hindu calendar, Margashirsha is considered as the ninth month. Hindu devotees are praising Lord Krishna in that month. One of the main significance of Margashirsha month is to please dead ancestors. Margashirsha month is auspicious for performing Tarpan and Pitr Puja to attain peace and salvation to their ancestors. Devotees are pleasing, not only gods such as Indra, Shiva, Surya, Agni but also birds, animals and evils too while conducting Amavasya fasting. Margashirsha Purnima, Kalabhairava Ekadashi, Vivah Panchami, Gita Jayanti, Mokshada Ekadashi, Utpana Ekadashi and Dattatreya Jayanti are some of the major festivals in Margashirsha month. Margashirsha Purnima or Batis Purnima is one of the main celebrations in Margashirsha month. Devotees are worshipping the moon on this day. Giving food to Brahman is considered as sacred doing while doing this will give you better results to the native. Taking a bath in the holy river with sacred Tulsi leaves is sacred. Hindu devotees should bathe in the rivers by chanting Om Namo Narayana mantra or Gujarati mantra. Lord Krishna said about Margashirsha month is that " I am the month of Margashirsha amongst all of the twelve months." Reading Bhagavad Gita is necessary for this month. Another celebration conducted in Margashirsha month is Kaal Bhairav Ashtami. During this day, people are devoting Kalabhairav through fasting. Giving food to Brahman is considered as sacred and while doing this will give better results. Utpana Ekadashi is another major festival practising this month. To praise Lord Vishnu and to achieve their wishes, devotees are conducting special pooja rituals on the day of Utpana Ekadashi. Vivah Panchami is celebrating this month as the marriage of Lord Sri Ram and Sita. During the day of Dattatreya Jayanti, devotees are performing charity, sacrifice, penance etc..Devotees are also worshipping Lord Sun. This is another major sign of Margashirsha month. During the month of Margashirsha, people should have to indulge in bhajans and prayers. Birth of religious text Bhagavad Gita is celebrated as Gita Jayanti. Mokshada Ekadashi is considered as another festival conducted in Margashirsha month. Practising Ekadashi Vrat on the day to get the blessings of Lord Vishnu. It is considered as one of the sacred 24 Ekadashi Vrats.
