Mandalas
According to Hindu religious customs, Mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol that represents our relation to eternity. There are several types of Mandalas such as teaching mandala, healing mandala, sand mandala, kalachakra mandala, architectural mandala, mantra mandala etc, but two is most common such as healing mandalas and teaching mandalas. Healing mandalas is mainly for meditation and also for improving focus and concentration while teaching mandalas denotes different aspects of Buddhism through shape, line and colour. Mandala is a square temple surrounded by several concentric circles. That circle is divided into eight parts. Different colours are using to attract certain things. Eight different colours are representing to various meanings. Red indicates energy and passion, Pink indicates love and intuition, orange represents creativity, yellow represents learning and happiness, green denotes psychic ability and nature, blue represents inner peace, purple colour focusing spirituality and black indicates deep thinking. Mandalas are illustrating our inner worlds and outer reality. They are denoting through various forms such as wheel tree, flower etc. Mandalas are created in Tibet, China, Nepal, Japan, Bhutan, India and Indonesia. Mandala is destroyed after it is finished because the fundamental fact of mandala is "nothing is permanent". Mandalas are best for sleeping because they have also been found in dream catchers. According to Asian cultures, mandala is symbolising in two different ways. One is external and other is internal. External is the graphical representation of universe and internal is the guide for several practises in Asian traditions. Different age group peoples such as for children, youngsters and elders has colouring Mandalas and it represents in different manner. For children, mandalas is not an actual representation of reality. So they will enjoy their creativity. For adults, colouring mandala can help adults to keep a peace of mind. For elders, it may help to keep the memory.
