Ashwin month

Ashwin month is regarded as one of the important months in the Hindu calendar. Devotees are worshipping Lord Vishnu in the name of Sri Padmanabha. Some of the major festivals such as Pitru Paksha, Indira Ekadashi, Sarvapitru Amavasya, Jivitputrika Vrat, Shardiya Navratri, Saraswati Avahan Puja, Durga Ashtami, Papankusha Ekadashi, Dussehra, Kojagara Puja, Sharad Purnima, Lalita Panchami, Maha Navami and Saraswati puja are celebrating on this month. Devotees are conducting Durga Puja or Durga Navratri. So this month is considered as auspicious among four months in Hinduism. It emphasising peace, harmony and contributes to overall well being. Ashwin month represents two Gods, Gods of vision and importance of Ayurvedic medicine. Yet, It is the first Nakshatra in 27 Nakshatras. It symbolises the brightness of sunrise and sunset. The first fifteen days of Ashwin month is sacred for Karmic purification and it is the organising Shradh for Shraddha for ancestors. On these days, people are performing rituals and conducting prayers for their ancestor's peace and salvation. Yet, devotees can also give, food, clothes, money. There is a story behind the name of Sarva Pitru Amavasya. At the time of churning curd, there happened a fight between gods and demons. In that battle, demons killed many saints and gods. From that day some of the devotees are started to consider saints and demons as ancestors. Because of these gods and saints are died in the Amavasya of Ashwin month.
