Moksha Sannyasa Yoga · Liberation and Renunciation
Original Sanskrit
Bhagavad Gita verse 18.66 in Sanskrit
सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज।
अहं त्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः॥१८.६६॥
sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṃ śaraṇaṃ vraja
ahaṃ tvā sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ
Plain-language meaning
What the verse says
Krishna asks Arjuna to release reliance on every separate support and take refuge in him alone, promising freedom from sin and telling him not to grieve.
Context in the dialogue
Near the conclusion of the Gita, this verse gathers the dialogue into surrender and trust. Commentarial traditions differ on the scope of “abandoning all dharmas.” The surrounding chapter still addresses discernment and action, so the verse should not be used as permission for irresponsibility or harm.

Reflection for daily life
Practice the principle
Surrender can mean releasing the demand to secure yourself through perfect control. Act with care, then place the burden of ultimate certainty down. Trust should make responsibility clearer, not disappear.
