History of badrinath
Badrinath temple is an ancient Hindu religious destination mainly devoted for Lord Vishnu. It forms one of the 108 divya desams. In that temple, Lord Vishnu is sitting in a meditative posture. There is a myth behind the idol of Lord Vishnu's posture. Lord Vishnu accomplished the exact atonement on this place. But he didn't bothered about the excessive weather conditions. In order to protect him from that, his wife Goddess Lakshmi adopted the shape of Badri tree and spread over him. At the same time Vishnu delighted in her devotion and he named the place after her as Badrikashram. Badrinath temple is the part of both Char dham and Cholar car dham. Other than that, some other deities or additional murtis are there such as Murtis of Nara and Narayana, Narasimha, Lakshmi, Narada, Ganesha, Uddhava, Kubera, Garuda and Navadurga for worship. There is no specific history behind badrinath temple. But some history says that at first, it was a Buddist temple, but later Adi Shankaracharya founded the idol of Badri Narayanan from Alakananda river and enshrined it in a cave near Tapt kund. Later some disasters affected the temple and King of Jaipur reconstructed the temple. Badrinath temple is described in Vishnu Purana and Skanda Purana. The temple has three structures such as Garbhagriha, Darshan mandap and Sabha mandap. Kumbh Mela is famous festival in Badrinath temple and pongal, sugar candy, tulsi and other dry fruits are giving as prasad of that temple.
